Welcome!! to the Christian Salas' website. I am a Ph.D. student in biometrics at the Biometrics Laboratory at the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University. My advisor at Yale is Professor Timothy G. Gregoire.

I am from Chile, a beautiful and long-narrow piece of land in South America. My wife Lilita and my baby daughter Josefa are with me in this journey to the US for my graduate studies. I studied Ingeniería Forestal [Forest Engineering] in Chile (at the Universidad de La Frontera), and since graduation in 2000 I have been mostly working on forest biometrics topics, and focused them on natural chilean species and forests. Some years later (actually in 2004), I came to the US with my wife for studying a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Statistics at the University of Idaho (Moscow, Idaho, USA). After finishing my M.Sc. (2006), and continuing with my graduate education, we moved to Yale University (New Haven, Connecticut, USA) for pursuing my doctoral studies.

Although I am a student here, I am an assistant professor at the Departamento de Ciencias Forestales [Forest Science Department] at the Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) in Temuco, Chile. You can visit my website in Spanish with some material prepared while I was working over there some years ago.

Bellow you can review further details about my publications, and other professional stuffs.
